2012 Flashback

Hi all..
Here I am.. Back from the real to virtual world again.. :p
I feel bored with my catchy Sponge Bob background, so I change it to quite catchy fruity background.. Hehe..
This time, as always, I'm taking a moment to tell you my brief flashback of 2012..
So, let's start...

I've spent about half year to finish my research and thesis "Extraction and Characterization of Bromelain from Fruit, Core, Peel, and Crown of Palembang Pineapple"..
In some occasions, it turned my life upside down..
But I REALLY AM grateful for my campus fellowship (His Generation community) and my church fellowship (GAB Youth community)  that had always strengthen my faith.. Thanks guys :)

BIOTECHNOLOGY GRADUATES OF 2012. Can you locate me? :)

Dr. Diana E. Waturangi, M.Si (dean of Biotechnology Faculty); Dr. Noryawati Mulyono, S.Si (my thesis advisor); me; my mom;
Prof. Dr. Ir. Maggy T. Suhartono (my thesis co-advisor).
Big thanks to Mrs. Noryawaty and Mrs. Maggy for all the help, advice, and encouragement :)

Tante Hanny (my mom's friend who also watched my graduation); cici Angel (my cousin who also graduated as Master of Psychology); me; my dearest mom :)

Me; Eli (one of my research teammate. Thank you for all the help and support, mate ;));
Anne (thanks to Anne and her mom who done my hair and make-up :)); Audi (my fashionable friend ;))

Me and Ochie (my other research teammate).
Thank you also for the help and support, mate ;)

After graduated at the end of July, I had a chance to fulfill the 6th point of my 2012 resolution with help from one of my docent, but in the middle of the process I canceled it because of financial problem..
Didn't give up just like that, I'm looking for other scholarship opportunity until I found an opportunity that requires two years of working experience in related field..
On one side I want to search for another scholarship that doesn't need any requirements but on the other side I want to feel the world of work..
Driven by many advise from people around me, I'm starting to find a job while some of my friends had already got their job..
I was so determined for it and pray to God that I could find one before Christmas..

While waiting for job interview, I got a chance to involve as Sunday School teacher..
It had been a long time since I actively involved in Sunday School service in my old church..
I am absolutely grateful for this opportunity..
It really burst out my passion for children..

Yes. There's so much excited energy there. Until now. Thanks Dad.
I love all my Sunday School children :))
(the kids photo: Soon!)

On September 27 and 28, I join my church retreat..
I enjoyed this retreat but to be honest, I didn't get something special from it..
However, I knew more about spiritual life and I learn to serve Him not only because of my passion for kids but also because of my love for Him..

Retreat of Gereja Allah Baik 2012
(three small boys that sit at the front with red jacket, white jacket, and white T-shirt are three of my Sunday School kids :))

On the 10th of November, mom and dad celebrated their 25th wedding at our house..
At that time, I shared a testimony until I sobbed.. It was a memorable one..

(Photo: Soon!)

At the beginning of December I got a job with position that I want..
But unfortunately, it didn't last long..
Sorry, I couldn't tell more about it here because of some reasons..
I did learn so much from it, especially about my personal relationship with Him..
From that short experience, I just felt that He had already been sooo good to me even though I (again) didn't prioritizing Him throughout those periods of time..
I felt guilty but, I didn't want to drag myself through each day in guilty like what I've did before..
I've confessed it in my prayer and that's it..
I only believe that He already forgives me, doesn't remember even a bit about it, and I continue to have faith that He has already provided me a better one.. Yes!

On 25th of December, I celebrated Christmas with my mom and dad's family.. :)
It's always nice to gather with whole family, having a fellowship, knowing the latest news about each others, and every family got some Christmas presents..

My mom; dearest brother (Jan); me; my dad

On December 28, me and my family visit Granny's grave..
It was the first time for me after she passed away..
Well, I rarely miss her.. But my brain always recall her every time I hear, sing, or see the lyrics of some nursery rhymes like "Humpty Dumpty", "Baa Baa Black Sheep", "Hickory Dickory Dock", "Are You Sleeping?" or some folklore like "Thumbelina" or "Goldilocks and The Three Bears"..

@ Grandpa's & Granny's grave

Some of my 2012 resolution (1st, 2nd, 3rd point) are half done but the other's not yet..
Looking at those resolution (and suddenly it reminds me of one of my cousin's talking), I'm starting to think that some people would look at me as an idealist person..
But for me, it's just me being optimistic..
I wouldn't feel so disappoint if I couldn't fulfill all my targets because, in my opinion, if I couldn't fulfill it then there's gonna be something new that I could learn from..
And for this year, I will keep up with those resolutions..

This Casting Crown's song steady my heart..
I hope it steady yours, too.. :)

Love and pray,

"Wow, wow, wow.."

Time sure flies so fast..
It's already time for flashback again.. :D
I'm questioning to myself why I must do this? What for?
And I answer to myself (hahaha)..
By recapping all things I've done or experienced in one whole year, it helped me to become a more grateful person and to learn from the past so that I can make a better resolution for another new year to live.. :))

Wow, wow, wow..
That's how I express all things I've gone through 2011..
Yes, I feel like I really am formed this year..
All happy and unhappy moments in this year really have changed me much..
It changed my point of view in some ways, it improved my self-control, it somehow helped me to overcome my greatest fear in a very unique way, and most of all made me closer to Him.. :))

I've made half of the flashback in June 2011..
Now I'm going to continue it..

9. The first time I created a video using Windows Movie Maker ;p It's for one of my faculty club's event called "Penelitian Universal" on 22nd of September. We looked up for an experiment about bubbles from the internet, we tried it, we documented it in a video, and we were chosen as the second winner! Thanks to my solid team: Beatrix, Carla, Sheila, and Clara :)

10. Microbes blog. Remember Microbes, my faculty bulletin? The blog was officially published in May 2011. I took part in the layout design. www.microbesgoesonline.blogspot.com :)

11. The first time (again) I got a chance to be one of laboratorium assistants for my junior at campus. I have asked Him since the 4th semester and He gave me this chance in 7th semester. Well, why I asked for this chance? The only motivation of mine is I want to learn how to transfer my knowledge to others. And I've learned much from this experience. Thanks Dad :) I know You heard my prayer and waited for the best time.

Thanks also to all my junior (the first photo is my message and impression's notes from all bioinformatic participants during my assistance) and all bioinformatic laboratorium's assistants (the girls in the photo: Myra, me, Stefani, Marlin, Isabella, the only boy: Theda) and Pak Adi Yulandi (as bioinformatic docent) for the help, cooperation, and togetherness all this time :)

12. Bromelain extraction and characterization! This is my research for final assignment that I've started since October 2011. Since this is not my real passion, I really am learn to love all the enzyme thingy ;). So why enzyme? Hmm.. The reason I choose my research topic is because I don't want to deal with DNA, plant, or microorganism. LOL. Second reason is the benefit of my research result can be applied directly for some industries especially food industry. I've done the pre-research final test. It tested my knowledge and mastery level in my research (the research method, bromelain information, etc). This final test TRULY has taught me to fully depend on Him. That was a real prove that I could't depend on myself but Him. I'm way thankful for this experience. I hope I could learn more from this research to prepare me more for the future :)

13. November 19; December 23 & 24, 2011. My brother got convulsion for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th time in this year and didn't got hospitalized. That time was for my mom to prove her faith. I, my dad, and my mom only praised and prayed until the convulsion stopped. We were struggling for approximately 1 hour. I still could feel the joyfulness I felt that day. 'Cause You are faithful to all that You have promised :))

This is a video of my brother praising. Looking at his expression does make me laugh. :D
The screen orientation changes couple of times, so sorry for the inconvenient.

14. Learning guitar! :) I got a guitar (the one that show up in the video above) from the last tenant of my other house (now the house is already sold). They left the guitar with some strings broken. My dad took it and currently fixed it. I myself want to learn to play guitar since long time ago. Maybe this is the time! I started learning the chords from song books I have last month and now I become addicted to it. I never miss a day not playing it, even during days of final test. ;p

15. Grow in fellowship. First, this year I'm trusted to lead one of sharing groups consist of 4 or 5 peoples in my campus fellowship twice. The members of each sharing group is randomised each week, so it's not a permanent group. I'm longing to have my own permanent small fellowship group since high school. Maybe this can be a practice before I'm trusted with a bigger responsibility. Amen! Second, I have new fellowship in my new church called "Youth"! Yes, I grew up and learned much in these two fellowship. I have been taught not to leave my fellowship because those are people who support me to keep on fire in Him. I've already left my fellowship for a period of time and it proved that I become more far away from Him. When I'm far away from Him, I found no peace, no joy, no spirit at all. Really don't wanna do that again.

Big family of Youth Gereja Allah Baik :)

16. A puppy to care for. Yes, yes, yes. We named it Browny. It's a male puppy, born from a wild dog that like to go around my house complex. Browny is very active and smart puppy. My dad took him couple weeks after he's born. He has two siblings. My dad said he's the second born. As a puppy, Browny love to bite things around him and he still learn to bark.

So, this is it..
Now let's move on to my resolution for 2012.. :)
You should take a look my resolution 2011:

2010
  • Finish reading the whole bible..
  • Never start a day without the Daily Bread..
  • Get sleep in minimal 5 hours a day..
  • Produce "my own money" by tutoring or taking a part-time job..
  • Be a good role model (especially for my brother)..

2011
  • Get up at 4 AM every morning for the Daily Bread
  • Go to sleep at maximum 12 AM
  • Do not argue with mom or dad's order or advice. If it's not like what you want, just say it nicely
  • Do weekly review for MICROBES' schedule/publication

Well, formerly I have crossed out the fourth point in my 2010 resolution but it turns out it is achieved this year..
That is producing "my own money" by being bioinformatic assistant.. :)
We never know what would happen, right?
He always works in unexpected way and it's all for our own good..
This year my desire to achieve the first point of my 2010 resolution almost becomes unbearable..
So I will include it again in my 2012 resolution..
There's also a slight change in my maximum bed and Daily Bread time, since I have made a commitment this recent few weeks..
And for the third and fourth point of my 2011 resolution I think I'll eliminate it..
It's because for the third point, I learned that it's not a resolution for me again..
I have grown up and it must become my habit..
The fourth point is because I don't have to do that again in 2012 since I'll officially not longer a Microbes member again..
Besides, I never do my own weekly review since I moved to design division.. ;p
Okay, here we goes, Jc's 2012 resolution:

  • Get up at 2 AM every morning for the Daily Bread
  • Go to sleep at maximum 11 PM
  • Finish reading the whole Bible
  • Learn to drive car
  • Taking part time job (I want it to be in HACCP field but, we'll see.. I've been thinking a lot about this and I've come to a conclusion: I don't like working in the lab.. Yea.. Some of the reason is because my internship experience..)
  • Taking graduate studies in bioethics field (Amen!)
  • Get involve in children activist organization :)
*The last two is not necessarily achieved in 2012, it could be prolonged to 2013..

Be blessed all :)

All We Need Is Just Communicate

Never bored to share someone's testimony..
This one is from one of my campus friend's sister..
She is now studying in China..
Three days ago, she came to our campus fellowship and shared her story..

In China, her mom told her to find an "English speaking" church and to join the service every Sunday..
You should know that China is a communist country..
Every Christian fellowship or service is held illegally..
If they get caught, they all could put in jail..
(How grateful we are living in a liberal country~~)
But she just could find "Mandarin speaking" catholic church there..
At first she felt relieved, knowing that she had a reason to not go to church..
One day, she got a small bump at her chess..
She called her mother and was suggested to check it to doctor..
The doctor told her to wait..
If the bump get bigger, it could be a cancer or tumor..
She was so freak out so that her mother asked her whether she goes to church or not, read the Bible or not..
She answered "No, mom.. I can't understand the language and I don't bring my Bible.."
Then her mother told her, "Okay then..You just pray, ask for your healing.."
So she tried to do it..
She said "God, heal me please.. I'm sure You can cure me if You want to.." (Simple, isn't it?)

Meanwhile, she still continued searching an "English speaking" church..
All she found is Christian Protestant church with English language..
(Well, I think there is no large difference..)
Since then, every Sunday she joined the church service..
At several weeks, she said that she always sleeps in every preaching session..
(I remember a preacher saying this statement.. "Every preacher can do a miracle.. Especially at the last minute of their sermon.. Whenever they said 'And the last one, ....' , every closed eyes are opened, every exhausted person is rejuvenated.. Haha XD)
But gradually, she finally could handle it..

Her bump?!
It got smaller day by day..
She even didn't have to pay any doctor to cure that..
How incredible~~

One more thing..
After she recovered, her mom told her to pray for her brother..
She was trying to talk to his brother via Facebook chat..
But he there were no response from him..
So she only could pray for him so that her brother meet nice people who can deliver him to get to know amazing personality of God..
And her pray is answered..

Just like the title of this post "All we need is just communicate"
He wants us to come to His presence and believe that He will always find a way to find His lost sheep..
And I really feel so guilty about this thing~~
My personal relationship with Him now (my Daily Bread and my personal prayer) is just like this...

Flash from here (watch the other cool flash video!!^^)

Where are your priority, Jc??
You even haven't start your extraordinary-busy semester yet..!!
I am so pathetic~~ T___T
For every one who read this, I just need your support...
At least a valuable little prayer..
Nevertheless, I'm grateful for my family altar which is still going on until now..
I'm so sorry, Dad.. >__<

I Always Like Somebody's Life Testimony

Blogging time!! Hehe..

Okay.. Right to the point..

My inspiring Words for this week is from Matthew 6: 33..
"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
The case is simple, actually..

Last week, I watched premieres of Take Celebrity Out until the middle of the show..
Afterward, I have to do my Family Altar..
Initially I didn't want to leave that TV programme, but then I decided to leave it..
Few days after that, I switched on the TV and tada! there was replay of the show~:)
Maybe it looks like just a coincidence..
But for me, it is not..
There's no such thing called coincidence..

By the way, today I joined the fellowship at my campus..
While we all were singing, suddenly a guy came and joined us..
I thought.. Wow!! Another new member~~ (Thx Dad :))
So...
He is one of Technique Students in my university.. (one year older than me)
I wanna share a little of his life testimony.. (I didn't hear all coz at that moment I just came back from the toilet..)
All I heard was, he used to be a drugs user and at the first semester his GPA was 1,...
Now, he already free from that "bad habit" and he is searching for students fellowship around him..
He said that he has joined fellowship at Universitas Indonesia before and the other else students fellowship..
But the only problem is long distance..

He was so grateful to know that there is fellowship at his own university..
(I know You have a billion ways to grow our fellowship.. Not only the quantity but also the quality.. I LOVE YOU DADDY!! ^O^)
He got one of my fellowship partner's contact from Pak Yopie..
(Pak Yopie is a university students fellowship's activist.. He has built students fellowship in Universitas Indonesia, Institut Teknologi Bandung, etc.. He also has came to my campus to see our fellowship..)
What about his GPA?!
He were struggling to improve his GPA and he made a progress 'til now.. :))

The most surprising fact is....
He was my senior in high school... Uwow!!!
He said that he was famous enough around my high school teachers..
He also said that Pak Ruspin (my sport teacher) and Pak Ramli (my mathematic teacher whom I like so much!! Every student said that Pak Ramli looks like Ucok Baba in taller version.. XP) know him very well..
But honestly, I never seen him before...@.@a

At the fellowship today, I also watched a true story movie titled The Blind Side.. (4 thumbs up!! Absolutely recommended!!)
Sandra Bullock plays so all out.. (Yeah she always do.. She is officially my favorite actress now.. :)) You can read this or this and this..)
She won Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Drama for her act in this movie (Wikipedia).
And again, Kathy Bates gets a role in it.. :)

The story is taken from a book by Michael Lewis, The Blind Side: Evolution of A Game..

A true story of 17 years old black boy with IQ below average named Michael Oher (usually called Big Mike) who is taken home by a very kind woman, Leigh Anne Tuohy. (I definitely admire the real Mrs. Tuohy so much!!) Before that, Michael already entered a Christian school. He got accepted there because of his previous foster parent. He learns at normal school with the other normal teenagers. I like his writing which he makes on his first day at school:
I look and I see white everywhere..
White walls, white floors, and a lot of white people..
The teachers do not know I have no idea of anything they're talking about..
I do not wanna listen to anyone, especially the teachers..
They're giving homework expecting me to do the problems on my own..
I have never done homework in my life..
I go to the bathroom, look in the mirror, and say "This is not Michael Oher"..
See, he has simple mind and thought. Leigh ownself lives with her husband (Sean Tuohy) and two kids. The younger one is Sean Junior (SJ) and her daughter, Collins, is the oldest. They all come from a rich and warm-hearted family. SJ is such an energetic and fun kid (he is the second character I like after Mrs. Tuohy). He quickly be friends with Michael. He teach Michael about things in his funny ways. I tell you, this movie is full of laughter too. X) Michael Oher with IQ of 80 got 30 percentile in special relationship, 5 percentile in ability to learn, and 98 percentile in protective instinct. It makes me more convinced that God does give everyone their own special talent to be a blessing for others. So Big Mike is recruited by Sean (Leigh's husband) to join his school's football team as the offense. His big figure (that means big strength) and added with 98% of protective instinct, he becomes a natural athlete. Electronic media becomes God's way to promote Michael Oher to all famous football team in his country. Other thing that amaze me is although he has 5% ability to learn, Big Mike could graduate with 2,52 (The standard GPA to pass on is 2,5.. Imagine what could happen if he miss the target.. He won't be a famous football player now.. Wow~~). Thanks to Ms. Sue, Michael's private teacher.

From left to right, up to down: Collins Tuohy (Lily Collins),                                  Big Mike and Miss Sue (Kathy Bates)
Collins Tuohy (Lily Collins), Sean Tuohy (Tim McGraw),
SJ (Jae Head), and Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock)

The real person (from left to right): Sean Junior, Sean Tuohy, Leigh Anne Tuohy, Michael Oher, and Collins Tuohy

Michael Oher now plays for Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (Wikipedia).

He Just Talked to Me Again

Looks like He told me to come to my campus fellowship tomorrow..
(Okay Dad,, I'll join them...)
Actually I don't take Semester Padat in my faculty...
My new semester will start in March..
One of my fellowship members has sent me message to inform that our fellowship will be held tomorrow..
I have decided to not join them coz I'm lazy to go to campus...
And a few hours ago a girl named Dewi from UKM LKMM (one of non-academic student organization in my campus) called me to borrow my faculty's Handy Talky for Thursday..
I said to her that the Handy Talky are still borrowed by PAJ until Saturday (the other non-academic organization)..
(I didn't tell that PAJ's event is already done few days ago but I asked them to give it back on Saturday coz I will go to campus on that day..)
Then (shoot!!) she asked me whether the PAJ's event already done or not..

If I want to,, I could tell a lie to her,, but I just couldn't..
I know He doesn't like me to do that and I'm proud for already being honest...
After the phone rang off,, I sent message to Toga from PAJ to give the HT back tomorrow morning (before the fellowship begin)..
And he replied "Okay then, tomorrow. Thx."
So...
Tomorrow I must get up early in the morning coz I want to join my mom in her way to her office...
And now I must finish Surat Keputusan Bonsai (secretary job.. -,-") coz the Bonsai committee asked for it already...

~Stay blessed~ =)

Sweet Memories Prepare Me to Welcome The New One

HELLOOWWW EVERYONE!!!!!! ^O^

Many things I want to post~~~ >.<
It probably will be the longest one.. :P
I've read my friends post about the flashback of 2009 and the resolution for 2010..
I love all of them~~ :)
Each of us had our own valuable things to learn..
Now it's time for me to write my own.. ^^

First
Last year I've been through many things..
These are some of them that I remember..

I joined my Faculty Student Council as a secretary..
I learned to think more critically and to make a sudden decision wisely..

My family altar re-started again..
Thx God.. :)

Success builds character, failure reveals it. - Anonym

I failed my Biochemistry class..
Guess this one has made quite enough effect..
But "blue days" has passed long time ago and I'm grateful for it!!
Call me crazy,, but I really am grateful..
I truly believe that He permits this happen in my life for a reason..
I don't know what it is so I must find out..
For my friend,, Elisabeth R.,, I do feel what you felt..
FIGHTING!! o(^O^)O

The NZ Girl at The Left :P

Hanged out and watched Transformer: Revenge of The Fallen
with my far away old friend.. She is studying in New Zealand
and I'm still waiting for NZ chocolate from her.. :P

HE added 5 more members to my campus fellowship.. :)

All Participants and Committees of SPARTAN Retreat

I joined my faculty retreat committee..
What an experience.. Just click this post.. ^.~

I did a small farewell party with my previous Sunday School class..
I was placed in the kindergarten class again til now.. Happy.. ^^

Went holiday with my big family at Lembah Bukit Raya..
Thx God for this all-time precious moment.. :)

Visited my friend's orphanage for the second time..
I like Steven more and more.. He's such a cool and kind kid.. >.<

Granny with All of Her Grandchildren ^^

Not to forget,, my family Christmas celebration..
This time I and one of my cousins presented a song titled
Seorang Anak T'lah Lahir and lead the intercession.. :)

To regret the past is to forfeit the future. - Chinese Proverb

Second
I also wanna share my New Year's Eve celebration two days ago..
I, my parents, Granny, and one of my uncle's family went to Gereja Allah Baik,, a small church in Mangga Dua..
Too bad my brother can't joined us..
He prefer to celebrate New Year's Eve with his friends.. (Yeah,, I really understand that..)
It is actually not our church that we usually go to,, but sometimes we go there..
We knew this church from my mom's relative..
The service is similar to Bethany or Bethel Church,, full of energy and Holy language..
I myself can't do the language yet,, but I found my heart feel so peaceful in the church service..
At 12 o' clock where we can heard the sound of fireworks,, every family who was there came forward to be prayed alternately..
After the pray,, each of family members must take a bible verse in a small paper that has been rolled and put into a small straw..
And the verse of mine is from 1 Corinthians 10: 31....

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

My tears almost came out when I read it..
It reminded me of the verse which I received before my faculty retreat.. (Read the linked post above!)
The point is the same: Do every single thing for Him!!
I hope this can be my motivation in doing anything challenging in 2010.. :)

Third
My 2010 resolution..
Here we go..
  • Finish reading the whole bible.. Actually this is OUR resolution (me and my parents)..
  • Never start a day without the Daily Bread..
  • Get sleep in minimal 5 hours a day..
  • Produce "my own money" by tutoring or taking a part-time job..
  • Be a good role model (especially for my brother)..

Picture taken from here

And it's not too late to say....

Wishing you all a wonderful and prosperous year ahead!! ^O^

Rarely Watched Movie

Two days ago I went to Plaza Indonesia XXI with all my fellowship partners...
We watched this movie...

I like the story,, especially for this scene...
For me,, this is the climax... ;)

I can see Rain plays all out for the main character that he played, Raizo..

I like him far more better with his nice smile..
That's why smiling is so important... ;)
(Fiuh... So hard to get the big scale of this photo coz it can't be downloaded from the site... I have to copy it to MS Word first, then to Photoshop, and save it in JPEG format... -,-")

I rarely watch action movie,, even more about ninjas.. (except Ninja Hatori.. Hahaha XD)
I don't really like reading novels about ninjas or clans with their exclusive weapons called "piau"... But I think this kinda cool.. ;D

Last but not least,, every girl's favorite romantic scene..
This is teenager Raizo played by a Chinese guy named Joon Lee..

A goodbye kiss in the pouring rain~~

A little spoiler for this scene:
Kiriko, one of a few girls that also join Ozunu clan, fall in love with Raizo. She is an independent and brave woman who help Raizo to find the bright side of him and to follow it. She asked Raizo to leave the cruel life of Ozunu with her but sadly he refused the offer. So Kiriko decided to leave Ozunu by herself although Raizo already reminded her about the dangerous risk she could get.

I think this movie is worth to watch..
Although this movie tells story about ninjas which is some kids are fond of it..
This is ABSOLUTELY NOT A KID'S MOVIE...
To many killing scene and fake blood is everywhere.... ;P

Favorite quote: "Your heart is special.." by Raizo
Actually it is read "OUR HEART IS SPECIAL.." ^^
