My Other "Blah"

Finally, I passed the nervous moment..
It's the moment when I must stand in front of about 25 people, lead a small Praise & Worship at the Sunday School's teacher coaching..
Fyuhh~~
Although I came a bit late and I wrote down the songs on whiteboard with bad handwriting, but surely those things didn't affect me too much..
I already said before, I don't want a small thing ruin every thing..
I do realize I should speak slower..
But it was an automatic response to overcome my nervous..
Okay then, I'll practice my speaking speed and I'll become better and better as time goes by..
Even more, at the coaching, I will come to the front more often for the story telling workshop.. :)

And today, my mom told my Sunday School's teaching partner about our conversation yesterday.. Errr...

This was it..
I told my mom that I can't join my big family celebrating the Chinese New Year's event because of the coaching..
My mom said "Yes you can. We don't have to go to Sunday School and we take the evening service."
I was a little mad at her..
Why I must leave the Sunday School just for the family tradition on Chinese New Year??
I said "I felt pity for my teaching partner. She can't control all the children by herself."
Further more, it continued with some arguments and finished with my agreement to join the event..
I suddenly remembered that since this February, my class will got another new teaching partner..
So if I don't come, there will be still two teacher in my class..

But mom, it really does not necessary to tell her about our arguments..
I was so embarrassed.. >.<

One more..
At the evening service today, the preacher showed us an inspiring video..
A Spanish man named Tony Melendez with no hand can play guitar with his feet..
This is one of his video I found in YouTube..

Official 2010 World Cup Theme Song and OST. Coca Cola (Indonesia)

I'm writing this post while switching on one of private TV stations in my country, RCTI..
Now airing, Michael Jackson's concert in... (don't know where the concert took place)
Every time I see the advertisement, the theme song of 2010 World Cup must be played..
It is Wafing Flag by K'naan..
Do you know what??
The opening melody of the crowd's singing reminds me to the soundtrack of Coca Cola's ad from my country (Buka Semangat Baru by Ello & Friends)..
Haha XD
Why??

Maybe it's because the World Cup is also sponsored by Coca Cola..
Well, just prove it by yourself.. ;)

~ Wafing Flag by K'naan ~

Give me freedom
Give me fire
Give me reason
Take me higher

From "Lux Beauty Lounge" to "Eat & Eat"

I was so excited with the plan that I and five of my senior high school friends have made..
We planned to go to Lux Beauty Lounge and get a chance to feel body treatments such as

Body Scrub

Sauna

Jacuzzi

and many more, all TOGETHER!!

Three days before, Anne invited me to Mall Kelapa Gading 3 for her birthday celebration..
I said that I can't go because I already have an appointment on the same day..
But surprisingly, one day before, I got an "urgent thing" that made me must canceled the first appointment..
Sorry to Cempaka, Didi, Meriska, Pauline, and Dewi.. >.<
I was upset but I thought maybe it's just not the right time to go there..
@ Didi (if you read this post): I'm waiting for your story in LBL.. ;)

So two days ago, I hanged out with my campus besties.. (Anne, Anas, Eli, Ibel)
It was Anne's 20th b'day celebration..
We all treated to lunch at Eat & Eat, Mall Kelapa Gading 3..
Each of us ordered 5 different kind of foods and got 5 free glasses of bitter tea.. (It was very bitter for me, Anas, Eli, and Ibel.. But not for Anne.. She said that she had tasted more bitter tea before.. @.@)

Just A Little Share

Yesterday after I got home from hanging out with my friends, we (me and my parents) did the family altar..
There was a little conflict between mom and dad..
Actually, it was because a simple thing..
But that simple thing really made the atmosphere different than usually..
As the third person in that situation, automatically I became the mediator..
I tried to break "the ice" between them..
I lead the worship and the prayer before reading the Bible although my mom didn't want to sing..
I just didn't want a small thing ruin every thing..
Our family altar must go on no matter what happen..
Nevertheless, I felt a bit relieved after hearing my mom read the Bible passage's explanation like she always do..

After we finished, I went downstairs to my room..
I was not sleepy yet.. (I always feel refresh after the family altar, even when I'm outrageously sleepy before -,-")
Then I opened my laptop, checking my blog, email, facebook, and twitter..
And when I played my iTunes' playlist, I heard a lovely song which I never listen for a long time..
I even don't realize I have it..
The title is When I Say That I Love You by anonymous..
Today I browse the internet, searching for the singer..

So it's another love song from our Daddy to us ^^

~ When I Say That I Love You by Franky Sihombing ~

You feel that you're lonely
It doesn't prove that you are alone
You feel that nobody wants you
It doesn't mean that no one cares about you

*
Listen to the words I say
For I will always by your side
You mean everything to Me
I will never leave you 'cause I love you so

**
You think that you're nothing
Before Me you are something beautiful
You think that you can't do anything
But you can do a lot of things with Me
Back to *, ***, **, *, ***

***
When I say that I love you
It means I give the best for you
When I say that I love you
I will give everything for you
No more fear about the future
And blame for the past
I'll give everything
When I say that I love you

I want you to know that I died for you
I want you to know that I give all my life for you
When I say that I love you

Sunday Full of Surprises

I woke up late yesterday morning, went to the morning service in hurry (forgot to wear my watch, forgot to bring my hairpin (didn't feel comfortable if I'm not wearing it -,-"), brushed my hair in the car, must moved my provider card from BB to my old phone coz my BB was out of battery (it took times enough)..

At the church, I met my "rarely see" cousins (husband and wife)..
They went to my church to accompany my other cousin (from the same family w/ them) who had to be there to play organ for the morning service..
I just realized that the wife is pregnant..
She's going to birth her baby three and a half month more...
Can't wait to see the new comer in my big family!! >O<

Then I went to Sunday School.. (the place is not in my church.. It takes about 5 minutes if I go there by foot from church..)
It was my turn to be the keyboardist at the service and I played smoothly enough (Thx Dad :))..
After the service over, all the teachers and the kids entered their own classroom..
I myself teach the kindergarten class...
That Sunday class was noisy as always..
It because one of my children suffers a kind of disorder..
He doesn't listen carefully to our (me and my teaching partner) words..
Instead, he enjoys "his own world" and that makes other children can't concentrate to the Bible story..
But yesterday, everything was under control... (never bored to say thanks to Daddy JC.. :))

Afterward, once again I played keyboard for the Sunday School teacher's fellowship that lead by my dad..
The keyboard was replaced with the one from upstairs (which usually played for the 2nd grade and above)..
I never play that keyboard before, so I was so confused every time I must play the next song.. (I got to change the setting: the rhythm style and the tempo..)
Thanks to Ka Adhi for helping me with this one.. :)

Next activity, I went to Sunday School teacher's coaching at GKI Gunung Sahari..
That day's material was how to make "purpose of the studying"..
Actually, at my Sunday School, I don't have to make it coz it already written in our guide book named Suluh Sekolah Minggu..
However, I have to learn it coz I got a paper that must be done as our final exam..
At the end of the coaching, they pronounced the worship leader for next week..
It is from my church.. >__<
Why it is so fast??
Or it just my feeling??
Just so you know, my church has already got turn to be the worship leader..
That includes preparing snack and drink for all the participants..
It was me preparing the consume and my partner who did the worship leader..
It's just the two of us~~
So this time, I have to be the worship leader and she prepares the consume..

Am I ready, Dad??
"Yes you are", said Daddy..
"That's why I choose you", He added..
But I don't feel like I'm ready.. How, how??
Haaahh~~
Just prepare me oh Lord..
Make the best of what happens next...
Whatever it is~~ :)

Technology Helps Haiti

CHECK THIS OUT!!!
Article taken from MacWorld page..

Man Treats Haiti Earthquake Wounds Using iPhone App

An iPhone app has been used to treat the wounds of a man in the Haiti earthquake.
The Today Show covered the story of Dan Woolley who used Jive Media’s Pocket First Aid & CPR app to treat a compound fracture of his leg and a cut on his head.

The iPhone first-aid app Woolley had downloaded showed him how to fashion a bandage and tourniquet for his leg and to stop the bleeding from his head wound. The app also warned him not to fall asleep if he felt he was going into shock, so he set his iPhone’s alarm clock to go off every 20 minutes.

Woolley was trapped for 65 hours in an elevator shaft following the Haiti earthquake. He was in Haiti working for Compassion International, a mission organisation, making a film about the impact of poverty on the people of Haiti.

Awesome Binaural Recording

For you guys who never heard about this one,, you really should know it.. ;)
Human's ear is fun to be explored indeed.. :P
Yup! At least it's fun for some people who do binaural recording..
Questioning about the new word??

Binaural recording is a method of recording sound that uses a special microphone arrangement and is intended for replay using headphones. Dummy head recording is a specific method of capturing the audio, generally using a bust that includes pinnae (outer ears). Because each person's pinnae are unique, and because the filtering they impose on sound directionality is learned by each person from early childhood, the use of pinnae during recording that are not the same as the ultimate listener may lead to perceptual confusion (Wikipedia).

Hmm..
Maybe a simpler way to explain it is through this picture..

Picture taken from here

Okay,, now you must be curious of the result...
This is it...

The rule is
  1. Put on your headphone or earphone (please make sure you put the right side of your headphone/earphone to your right/left ear)
  2. Turn up the volume (the maximum is half of your PC's Master Volume)
  3. Eliminate all other sounds around you (turn off the TV, radio, or move to somewhere where it's more quiet)
  4. Get your sitting position if you're now lying in your bed
  5. Close your eyes while you're listening
And then imagine you are "Mr/Mrs. President" who is in a barber shop..
You already sit on the chair and ready for a hair cut~~

This is the other type of binaural recording: Matchbox Rattles
Hope you enjoy!! :)

The Mighty Man: Angus Buchan

I know this movie from a mailing that I subscribe..
It's one of many movies that tells about how amazing is our God..
HE doesn't want to choose a normal way to show His work..
Instead, HE prefer the upnormal ones..
All we gotta have is a little FAITH in it,, just like potatoes.. :)

Faith Like Potatoes is based on true story of a farmer named Angus Buchan. He has a wife, Jill Buchan, 2 daughters, and a son. He used to live in Broken Hill, Zambia, before he moves to Greytown, Kwa-Zulu Natal (South Africa) because some troubles that descent upon Zambian farmers. In his new place, he and his family must restart their livelihood from zero. Moreover, they get no livable house beside their caravan. A Zulu man named Simeon Bhengu offers him a help in building the farm. With Simeon's help and the other Zulus, he can back to his farm work and have a cozy small house. Although their basic needs are already fulfilled, there are still some economic problems that Angus must face in running his farm. On that situation, he becomes very stressed out and it impacts on his relationship with Jill. One day, Jill asks Angus to go to the local church. At first he doesn't want to come, but finally by his wife persuasion, he decides to come. At the church he is touched by that day's sermon and accepts the altar call. Since the day, Angus life is fully change. His faith grows day by day and through many miraculous event, his heart is highly longing to spread out what God has done in his life. In this movie, you can see how Angus Buchan undergoes many difficult situation, even a tragic event that took one of his closest relative's life (It is tragic.  He's still about 6 years old kid. I was shocked when I saw that scene. Remember, it's a TRUE STORY!). And I cried when the child's father, Fergus Buchan, meets his death son (Alistair Buchan) in his dream. This movie is inspiring!

You know what?!
Angus's house in the movie is built by material from nature..
It's a typical Zulu tribal's house that built in 3 weeks..
Interesting, isn't it??
Angus and Jill also built an orphanage for Zulu's orphans.. (love this!!)

For further information, Angus has been continuously holding a conference called Mighty Men's Conference (MMC) until now on..
Every year the conference is held at his own farm (Shalom Farm) in Greytown, South Africa..
And for this year,, the conference will be held on 16th until 18th of April with theme "Watchmen of the House" (Ezekiel 3:17)..
This photo is the real person (not the actors in the movie)..

From left to right: Simeon Bhengu (the Zulu man), Jill and Angus Buchan, Angus at MMC 2009

You also can visit his official website Shalom Ministries if you wanna know more about his events, his Zulu orphans, biography, etc..
Or if you wanna come to his 2010 conference,, just visit this site..

Oh yeah,, before I forget..
This movie get its book, too.. :D

The book is already translated into Indonesian language :)

Another Alzheimer's Movie

I just finished from watching a recommended Korean movie by my friend.. (Thanks to Feny.. Great one.. ^^)
You guys can search it in YouTube with English subtitle.. ;)

It's a romantic story about an Alzheimer sufferer named Kim Su Jin. She meets Choi Chul Soo after she broke up with her ex-boyfriend, Young Min (I think his family name isn't mentioned in the movie) and falls in love with him. I think the romantic scene before they get married is a bit weird. -,-' And yup, I said it already. They becomes a happy married couple. Su Jin also teachs Chul Soo to forgive her mother. When he was a child, he was dumped by his mother and lived a hell-like life with his father. Su Jin says that her grandfather told her that "Forgiving is giving your hate just a little room in your heart". Absolutely like this! She's such a loveable, kind, and mature wife. Their after-married life goes well until Su Jin's Alzheimer symtomps start to appear and both of them find out about the disease. The scenes after this really touched me. Su Jin says to her husband that she has an eraser in her head (this movie's title in Korean can be tranlated into Eraser in My Head). She took very good care of her husband before the disease takes all away. Poor Chul Soo. You really must see it by yourself!

I'm pretty sure this movie's writers, Yeong-ha Kim and John H. Lee (one of them or both) is a Christian..
Just watch it and you'll find out!! ;)
My friend who studies in Korea also told me that she found many Christian church there..

And this letter is made by Kim Su Jin to her husband when suddenly she remembers all of her memory because of the photos set by Chul Soo..
At that moment,, Chul Soo was at work and Su Jin stayed at home..

" I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.
I never meant to break your heart.
God, what have I done?
Are you crying now?
I didn’t want to see you crying or in pain.
I wanted to make you happy.
But all I’ve done is put you in agony.
Chul-soo! Oh my love Chul-soo.
Don’t get me wrong.
I only love you
and only you.
I only think of you. I only remember you.
How badly do I wish to show you my heart!
Is there any way I can do that while my memory remains?
Oh, how my heart races.
I, Kim Su-jin love you Choi Chul-soo, only.
I don’t want to forget that. And I must not.
Can you see that? Can you feel my heart?
I’m afraid my just-returned memory will leave me again….
Before I can tell you everything I have to say
I love you. And I’m sorry.
I met you because I was forgetful.
I’m leaving you because I’m forgetful.
You were the best thing that ever happened to me.
How thankful I am to God for having sent you as a gift to me.
I don’t have to remember you. You’re a part of me.
I smile, laugh, and smell like you do.
I might forget you but nothing can drive you out of my body.
Although you’ve never told me you loved me, I know deep in my heart that you love me.
Forgive me for leaving you. "

My Favorite Disney Princess Are...

If I ask you,,
who is your favorite Disney Princess??
What's your answer??

Mine are Pocahontas and Mulan.. :)
Why them??

Pocahontas

She is different from any other "castle princess" that meet their prince charming. Pocahontas lives in an island as a daughter of a Native American chief (this Native American  tribal's appearance reminds me of  the Na'vis in Avatar movie). That's the reason why she is included as a princess. She is independent, brave, tough, loves nature, and really care for animals. Her two best friends are Meeko, the racoon and Flit, the hummingbird. In the second movie (Pocahontas II: Journey to A New World) she gets another best friend, Percy. He used to be Governor Ratcliffe's dog. Ratcliffe is the antagonist character in Pocahontas. This princess is also a spiritual young lady. That is proved by her ability to communicate with Grandmother Willow (a tree) and the wind (spirits). When she gets a problem, she always tries to listen with her heart and follows it, as the Grandmother Willow told her. She is also the only Disney Princess who falls in love twice. In the first movie she's in love with Captain John Smith. While in the second movie she's in love with John Rolfe, the king's deputy. She thought that John Smith has died. Why do Poca's lover must have the same first name?! Fortunately, they don't get into conflict in order to grab Poca's attention. X) From the literature I got in Wikipedia, this Pocahontas figure and also her life's event are very loosely based on historical figure Matoaka. Her other unique difference from the other princess are she's the only Disney Princess who doesn't have romantic feeling for her fiance and has not appeared in any of the Kingdom Hearts video games.

P.S Pocahontas (in my imagination) similar to Tarzan in female version.. Pay attention when Poca is sneaking around~~ :P

From left to right: John Smith (Poca's 1st love), Kocoum (Poca's fiance), John Rolfe (Poca's 2nd and last love)

One more thing,,
after I watched the movie for the second time,, I finally understand the meaning of the lyrics in Pocahontas' original soundtrack "Colors of the Wind"..
I think you'll more understand if you watch the video carefully..
Please take some minutes for watching.. :)

~ Colors of the Wind by Judy Kuhn ~

You think I'm an ignorant savage
And you've been so many places I guess it must be so
But still I can not see
Is the savage one is me
How can there be so much that you don't know?
You don't know

You think you own whatever land you land on
The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name

You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew you never knew

Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned?
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?

Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sunsweet berries of the Earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they're worth

The rainstorm and the river are my brothers
The heron and the otter are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle, in a hoop that never ends

How high does the sycamore grow?
If you cut it down, then you'll never know
And you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon

For whether we are white or copper skinned
We need to sing with all the voices of the mountains
We need to paint with all the colors of the wind

You can own the Earth and still
All you'll own is Earth until
You can paint with all the colors of the wind

---------------------------------------------------- II ---------------------------------------------------

Mulan

The most thing I learn from Mulan is her bravery. She is far more brave compared with other Disney Princess. I could think she is too reckless. But the truth is, she just simply follows her heart. Just imagine a homy girl does rough work which normally done by boys and enters the dangerous war world because of her love to her father. I like Mulan's statement from her short conversation with Princess Mei, one of the Emperor's daughter, at Mulan II

Mei      : How did you decide between duty and heart?
Mulan : Well. It wasn't easy. But I following my feeling, I end up doing the right thing. I guess I learn that my duty is to my heart.

Cool, isn't it?! Yeah. That statement triggers a fight between Mulan and General Shang (Mulan's fiance). Actually, the fight is mainly caused by Mushu (Mulan's guardian dragon), but it's getting worse because  of principal difference between this couple. Talking about Mushu, I think he is the second protagonist character in this movie. :P Beside Mulan's bravery, she is also an independent, nice, outspoken, and ingenious person. I really like the scene in Mulan II when Mushu try to trigger the fight in many ridiculous way, but Mulan can always overcomes it. :) She's all grown up. For your information, Mulan's character is also inspired by the legendary Hua Mulan from the Chinese poem The Ballad of Mulan (Wikipedia).

From left to right: Chien-Po, Ling, Yao (Mulan's soldier friends), Princess Su, Ting-Ting, Mei (the Emperor's daughter), General Li Shang (Mulan's fiance/husband)

I like the original soundtrack "Lesson Number One" from Mulan II..
The song tells us to be tough like a rock and be soft like a cloud..
We must not afraid of anything but it's also okay to be afraid..
Already got confused with those opposites??
One thing for sure,, we always needs both of them..
The main message is to keep those things in balance.. :)

~ Lesson Number One by Lea Salonga ~

Be Honest, No Matter What

I like this picture! :D (taken from here)

Sometimes we feel too scared to face the truth..
As many bad things that would happen next suddenly come into our mind,,
then we choose to compose our own "truth" version and say a lie...
I don't want to be a hypocrite..
I myself have lied to others..

Why do I write this topic??
It because some events that just happened...
It's the two new nurse that I've been telling you in some of my previous posts..

First is Granny's newest nurse.. (read this)
Two days ago,, my parents asked for her identity card (KTP)..
She said that her KTP is held by her foundation's owner..
That is unreasonable..
What for does the foundation's owner hold her KTP??
So my mom informed my oldest aunt and my aunt called the foundation's owner,, Ms. Poppy...
Ms. Poppy seemed startled when she heard that..
She explained that this nurse's wallet was stolen and her KTP also lost..

Today my oldest aunt came to my house with my other aunt and uncle..
They went back home a few minutes ago..
My aunt and my mom already asked the nurse why she lied to us...
She answered "I was scared madam would send me back if I'm telling the truth.. I thought if madam knows that I don't have any identity card,, madam won't hire me again.."
Huff~~
I have gotten shocked when I heard that artless person (in my opinion) could tell a lie about this simple thing..
I just didn't get the point why she must lie to us..
So that's the reason..
She's being so narrow minded~~

The other event that happened this morning is the other nurse whom left her bag in my house.. (read this)
She came to my house again to take back her bag..
Looks like my aunt really meant what she said (that the nurse must come by herself to take her bag)..
She scolded the nurse..
The point that my aunt tried to tell her was "Honesty is all needed.. Other people won't hire you if they knew you have done thing like this.."

Yesterday,, I also joined my church's Sunday School teaching preparation..
The speaker is Pdt. Dede Soerja Moeljana..
I was so inspired by her life testimony..
One thing she told us was about HONESTY..
She told us about her struggle to be honest to every body in every moments and places...

She told how Daddy JC always shows His miraculous work every time she does it..
I was amazed~~

Who told us that being honest is easy?!
It is NOT,, in fact..
Why not??

Because the world (our world) is not in the "straight path" anymore...
If we do the "straight path",, we will "collide" continuously..
But if we don't want to take the risk,, we will never feel His helping hands in our life..
And I really don't want to lose that precious thing~~
How about you??

Be honest, no matter what and you'll be pleasantly surprised at what happens next.
You will be fully grateful by doing it.. :)

Next is a Greek mythology character named Atalanta.. (Thanks again, Di... ^^)

Atalanta was the daughter of Schoeneus or Iasius, (or Mainalos) a Boeotian (according to Hesiod) or an Arcadian princess (according to Apollodorus). Apollodorus is the only one who gives an account of Atalanta’s birth and upbringing. King Iasos wanted a son; when Atalanta was born, he left her on a mountain top to die. Some stories say that a she-bear suckled and cared for Atalanta until hunters found and raised her, and she learned to fight and hunt as a bear would. She was later reunited with her father. Atalanta, having grown up in the wilderness, became a fierce huntress and was always armed. It is said that she took an oath of virginity to the goddess Artemis. When two centaurs Rhoikos and Hylaios tried to rape her, Atalanta killed them. (Wikipedia)

Here is 1974 children's cartoon short movie of Atalanta,, when her father was searching for the right guy to be Atalanta's husband..

And this one..
Actually it's not an "old" masterpiece,, but I like it either..

A stop motion pencil drawn cut out animation by Rima Staines for the Orla Wren track 'The Fish and the Doll' from album 'The One Two Bird And The Half Horse' released in 2009 on the FLAU label. Vocals by Russudan Meipariani.
